What Is Adopt Me

Adopt Me launched in July 2017 as a simple adoption roleplay game. It has since evolved into a full pet collecting economy. You hatch pets from eggs, raise them through five growth stages (Newborn, Junior, Pre-Teen, Teen, Full Grown), and trade them with other players. The game runs on a pet rarity system: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra-Rare, and Legendary. On top of that, you can combine four Full Grown pets of the same type into a Neon pet, and four Neon pets into a Mega Neon. Pet values drive the entire player economy.

How to Earn Bucks in Adopt Me

Bucks are the main currency. You earn them by completing care tasks for your pet — feeding, bathing, sleeping, going to school, and playing. Here is the trick most new players miss: playing as a baby doubles your rewards because you complete tasks for yourself and your equipped pet at the same time. Log in every day to build your login streak, which gives progressively better rewards. The Lemonade Stand and Hotdog Stand are passive income sources — set one up and other players buy from you. Bucks buy eggs from the Nursery, which is how you get new pets.

Getting and Aging Pets

You start with a free Starter Egg that hatches into a Dog or Cat. After that, eggs cost Bucks from the Nursery. The cheapest is the Cracked Egg (350 Bucks) which mostly gives Common pets. The Royal Egg (1,450 Bucks) has the best odds for Legendary pets, but the odds are still low. To age a pet, keep it equipped while you complete tasks. Each task fills a small portion of the age bar. Aging takes time — expect a few hours of active play to get a pet from Newborn to Full Grown. The payoff is worth it: Full Grown pets trade for significantly more than Newborns, and you need four of them to make a Neon.

How Trading Works in Adopt Me

Before you can trade, you need a Trading License. Find the license NPC (marked on your map) and complete their short quiz about trading safety. Once licensed, walk up to another player and click the trade icon. You can offer up to 9 items per trade. The number one rule: never trust-trade. A trust-trade is when another player wants you to hand over a pet outside the trade window, promising to return it or pay later. They will not. Use the in-game trade window for every exchange. Check pet values on sites like Adopt Me Trading Values before accepting trades so you do not accidentally give away a Legendary for something worth less.

Avoiding Common Scams

Trust trading is the most common scam — someone asks you to hand over your pet outside the trade window. Never do it. The second most common is the fake value claim, where someone tells you their Common pet is actually rare because of a made-up reason. Check a value list. Other scams include link scams in chat (never click links claiming free Robux or pets), the age swap scam (they show a Full Grown pet then switch to a Newborn before confirming), and the cross-trade scam (trading Adopt Me pets for items in another game, which violates Roblox ToS and has no protection if they do not follow through).

Making the Most of Events

Adopt Me runs seasonal events — Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Summer, and one-off celebrations. Events are the single best opportunity in the game. They introduce limited-time eggs and pets that become permanently unavailable when the event ends. These event pets almost always gain value over time because supply is fixed while demand grows. During events, grind event currency as much as possible and hatch as many event eggs as you can. Even Common event pets become valuable months later. The Valentine 2026 event introduced the Crystal Heart quest line and the Cherub Chipmunk pet.

How to Redeem Codes in Adopt Me

Adopt Me codes work differently from most Roblox games. You do not enter them through a settings menu. Instead, go to Adoption Island, find the Trade Tower (the building with scales on top), walk inside, and look for a code machine to the left near Agent Ruhi. Interact with the machine, type the code, and hit redeem. Codes typically give free Bucks, eggs, or cosmetic items. Building Your Dream Home

Every player gets a free Tiny House to start. You can upgrade to larger houses using Bucks — the Estate costs 800 Bucks, the Party House costs 1,200 Bucks, and premium houses go up from there. Decorating is half the fun. Buy furniture from the shop, place it inside your house, and customize colors and positions. Your house does not affect gameplay or trading directly, but well-decorated houses are popular for roleplay. Some players even charge admission to tour their builds.
